Automation in Brazil and worldwide
Building automation in Brazil is still small when compared to countries like Germany and the USA. However, the market is growing rapidly, with millions of homes across the country looking for more efficient and comfortable ways to operate and interconnect their electronics and appliances. While in the world the market grows at 10% a year, it is estimated that in Brazil the current growth is in the range of 20%.
Inherent difficulties in Brazilian culture and economy tend to delay the investment process, which can be very high by our standards, in building automation. A building built from the ground up with building automation in mind needs more investment and offers higher costs to its investors. As most manufacturers and standards are European, the cost for Brazilians (in reais, a weak currency) becomes even higher.
Even so, little by little, the most modern building automation processes are arriving in our industry. This is due to the large savings generated in the long term, especially for buildings and large buildings, which require a lot of maintenance.
With building automation, for example, it is possible to visualize all the light bulbs in a building on a central screen, identify those that are burned out and send a team directly to that point. This is a real scenario where building automation is largely responsible for making possible the efficient lighting of large airports and metro stations around the world.
